DEE DRESLOUGH-STYLE DRAGON FAN-ART CONTEST/EXHIBITION

run by [Paul Doyle]

Hello, everybody! DEE DRESLOUGH should be rather familiar to most of you, as her distinctive drawing style pops up everywhere on SF/fantasy pages across the Internet. She is best known for her Dimarene Dragons, a distinctive style of "furry" dragon that actually only has fur during the colder months of the year.

www.dreslough.com

Anybody checking out Dee Dreslough's wonderful website will quickly find out that she is extremely generous with her artwork. She is about as approachable and down-to-earth as you're possibly going to get, considering her appeal and talent. She is also still somewhat "underground" (compared to Michael Whelan and Larry Elmore, for instance) . . . and she LOVES fan art work! What's not to love about her? We've traded e-mails, and although I'm not claiming to be her "number one fan", I did get her official endorsement for this contest. (I have the e-mails on file in case anybody has a question.) She looks forward to seeing what comes out of this contest, and so do I! Let's all hve fun, but first (duh duh dum dum duh) . . .

---the rules---

1. Up to 50 entries, one per person, scanned 100 KB or less out of consideration for those of us stuck with dial-up Internet service and cheap modems. (Case-by-case exceptions allowed here). Contest will end once 50 acceptable entries have been submitted, or eight weeks have passed, whichever comes first. In the event of increased demand, more than 50 entries will be accepted---provided satisfy the other requirements.

2.) Technical quality will not necessarily be the deciding factor, as most of us entering do not have the artistic skills to be commisioned book cover artists! Imagination, creativity, emotion, depth and distinctiveness will all be important factors. This is NOT an intimidating environment!

3.) The following will NOT be allowed: lined paper entries (if you have an otherwise good entry, there are ways to remove those lines without harming the art itself); traceovers/forgeries of Dee Dreslough artwork; and particularly ACTUAL Dee Dreslough artwork you say is your own! Lined paper entries will be given time to be modified (and then disqualified if not fixed by a certain time); all other rulebreaking entries will be removed and disqualified without further argument. I will alert Dee Dreslough and the Guards if someone claims her artwork is theirs!

4.) Any and all media forms are acceptable, providing they are 100 KB scans or smaller. You, the entrant, may either have your Dimar dragon characters; or, (even better!) your own style of dragon interacting with a Dimar dragon. (For Example: Your Chinese-style dragon fast asleep on a beach, using a snoozing Dimar dragon's shoulder as a pillow.) Have fun, and let your imagination soar! Preference will be given to mixed-subspecies art. But there must be at least one clearly visible Dee Dreslough-style dragon in your artwork.

5.) VERY IMPORTANT : The artists will allow [Paul Doyle] to send one copy of every entry, free of charge, to Dee Dreslough at www.dreslough.com . This is her dragon art style we are celebrating, after all, and she very much enjoys guest artwork. If you have a problem with this, sorry! Start your own contest.

6.) VOTING:

(VERY IMPORTANT)

. No contest entrant may solicit votes on their Elftown page(s), or their entries will be disqualified. Only the runner of this contest, [Paul Doyle], can do this (to publicize the contest itself on Elftown/Elfwood), but in the spirit of fairness [Paul Doyle]'s entry will not be eligible to be voted upon. My reasoning is because many Elftown art contests have been ruined by solicitation of votes, resulting in a questionable ten-minute entry winning by a landslide over art that clearly took hours of hard work and undivided attention. In the event of unresolved, questionable voting practices (very unlikely) [Paul Doyle] reserves the right to select the winner himself, possibly with the assistance of Dee Dreslough herself. Again, [Paul Doyle]'s entry will not be eligible for votes.

7.) [Paul Doyle] may change the terms of this contest at any time, and Dee Dreslough has the right to Cease and Desist this contest at any time (not that she would, but that's just a little pseudo-legalese jargon I threw in just for the heck of it.)

NEW RULE! November 14, 2003--- Contestants may advertise the contest (but not solicit votes) on their page. Please, go ahead. The more the merrier.

ANOTHER NEW RULE! November 15, 2003--- You may post in-progress works, but please finish them before contest deadline

DON'T LOOK NOW FOLKS, BUT HERE COMES YET ANOTHER RULE CHANGE! November 22, 2003--- Until we get a LOT more artists submitting entries, go ahead and put up multiple entries. If this contest catches on in a major way, all entrants will choose which entry to keep back, and we will revert back to th original rule.

HAVE FUN!

DEADLINES: This contest will begin Monday, November 17 and end

APRIL 15th, 2004.

(Please leave spaces between your entries, along with your name. If you leave a title or comment, the happier we'll all be.

:-) Have fun!

(1.)<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/teptep1069545348.jpg> [teptep]  this is almost finished I think maybe very very few minor changes need to be done to it. this was the first one that was up edited to spiffyness. (on a side note I got alittle help with the detail)

(2.)<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/teptep1069388932.jpg> [teptep]  In progress

3. [Nere]- yep, this is my attempt :P Darsinth isn't too impressed with the dimars' attention :P
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/Nere1069740836.jpg>

(4.)[blackphoenix] almost finished
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/blackphoenix1069775630.jpg>

(5.)
. ( i think ) [Dragon Hawk]
Here's mine ^_^
I have never actually seen Dee's work before today, but i think it is cute, so here is my fan peice.

(6.)
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/1487_1073267008.jpg> ...I call him Phantom...

(7.)* [Kamona] is very confused on the entree counting*
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/Kamona1068947212.jpg>

(8.) Two Worlds [liiga] - um sorry this turned out very wide and resizing slaughtered the detail. It's at full size and detail at http://www.angelfire.com/art2/bilzhuki/dimarenepic.html - 291Kb.

<img:stuff/twoworlds_ET.jpg>

(9.)"Bathing for a Change" by [Nulltorque]. This is not nearly as crisp and detailed as the original, and I have nowhere to host a full size, so I am afriad you will have to deal with this blurry one for the time being. It's a Dimar dragon in the midst of a genetic change in case it was unclear. :)
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/Nulltorque1069483309.jpg>

10.) [Pnelma Tirian] untill I pretty up my entree...(: And that is now!!
<img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/Salek%252520FireStag1069392598.jpg>

(11.)
Please note this "entry" is not an actual entry! No voting on this one, please. art contests no longer allows contest owners to actually enter their own contests. Thankfully . . .
[Paul Doyle] Finished way, way after the fact . . . this pic was damaged by slush, salt and sand, and I didn't bother restoring/redoing the partially washed-away background. The much darker stuff is new . . .
<img:http://elftown.eu/stuff/DresloughTribute.jpg>

(12.)Still not really happy with the nose, and I feel like I should have included a sheep -- ah well, this one's done, anyway 3:) [Sheepy]
<img:http://students.juniata.edu/donahrm0/temp/dimar2.jpg>

(13.)I just couldn't manage it in 20 pixels *sob* even in 40 it's impossible to make fur look furry. Doh!
<img:http://mindspring.com/~traeil/icons/dimar.gif>

Gotta love the hot pink hair. Now I want hot pink hair. [TamponLollipops]
(14.)<img:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/Becca%252520Dragon1070251545.jpg>

2004-01-04 [Paul Doyle]: That's OK, [Sirfy] I just have my Staedtler pencils, although I just got a brand new starter pen/ink set! Whoo-hoo! No pressure here

2004-01-04 [Paul Doyle]: If there are no objections by 11:59 PM EDT Sunday Night, the deadline will be February First.

2004-01-04 [Sheepy]: Staedtler drafting pencils? My favorite utensil in the world? =)

2004-01-04 [Paul Doyle]: I'll grow artistically, I hope (knocking really hard on the wood)

2004-01-04 [Paul Doyle]: THE CONTEST ENDS TOMORROW!

2004-01-04 [Paul Doyle]: Mwahahaha, just kidding

2004-01-04 [liiga]: [Paul Doyle], I can see the crowd at the horizon, and they don't look friendly. Better start running! :P

2004-01-04 [Paul Doyle]: *running for the hills* *trips on a rock and falls into a puddle of mud*

2004-01-04 [Sheepy]: Whooo, mud fight! *jumps in after paul and starts flinging glops of mud around*

2004-01-05 [Nere]: I'm taking bets ...anyone?....paul 3 to 1 , sheepy 2 to 1 ..... :P

2004-01-05 [Paul Doyle]: No rocks in the mud, now . . .

2004-01-05 [Sheepy]: Agreed, no rocks.. but you didn't say anything about glue! *dumps a bucket of Elmer's into the puddle and throws a glob at paul*

2004-01-05 [Paul Doyle]: mommy . . .

2004-01-05 [Nere]: lol!! Go sheepy!

2004-01-05 [Dragon Hawk]: *watches fight with wide eyes* ooooooh....

2004-01-06 [Paul Doyle]: *finds a big bottle of multicolored ketchup**squeezes it all over [Sheepy] with uncanny accuracy and unparalleled trajectory*

2004-01-06 [Sheepy]: AAAARGGH! *runs away in fear* That stuff is scarier than fat-free cheese!

2004-01-06 [Paul Doyle]: Have you ever tried melting fat-free cheese in the oven? It turns into plastic

2004-01-06 [Dragon Hawk]: oooh.... edible plastic?

2004-01-06 [Sheepy]: No. I don't eat fat free cheese, I don a hazard suit, slay it, and bring it to Yucca Mountain.

2004-01-07 [Nere]: lol.....hail the might of the plastic cheese....

2004-01-07 [Paul Doyle]: For a while there I used to eat veggie burgers with fat free cheese . . . let's just say that the end product was definitely more wholesome than it looked! LOL

2004-01-07 [Paul Doyle]: Hey guys, we need some more entries over at Frog Contest No deadline yet, but they REAAAAAAALLLLLLLY need more entries. Seriously.

2004-01-07 [Paul Doyle]: Oh, and the deadline here is February First. I will do a wiki-change once my bathtime's over. BTW, I will be contacting Dee Dreslough soon regarding the permission to use a "badge" that includes her work (a side head-and-shoulders profile of a Dimarene dragon, most likely)

2004-01-07 [liiga]: When was the last time a note about the existance of this contest was posted in ET forums?

2004-01-07 [Paul Doyle]: Good point . . . I'm not really on any of the forums. You can't barge in on the forums anymore.

2004-01-07 [Sheepy]: I like most veggie burgers.. but I definitely try to stay away from fat-free and/or vegan cheese.

2004-01-07 [Nere]: vegan cheese?...how in the hell does that work..isn't that a bit of a contradiction??o.0

2004-01-07 [Sheepy]: perhaps I should say vegan "cheese" -- think about processed american, or cheez wiz and how much of that is oil, though. They just use oil to make cheese-like product.

2004-01-07 [Nere]: erm....(i'm an aussie...no cheez wiz here) but i get what your saying...still...it is a little odd :P

2004-01-07 [Sheepy]: definitely, but so is fat free cheese. and people who don't like cheese.

2004-01-07 [Nere]: lol...*grins* i agree wholeheartedly....

2004-01-14 [Paul Doyle]: this must be seen/heard to be believed . . . http://www.rathergood.com/moon_song/

2004-01-14 [Nere]: okkkay...way creepy lil' animal thingys.....

2004-01-14 [Paul Doyle]: yes, bush babies gone psycho!

2004-01-14 [Nere]: *shudders*......those don't look like bush babies...they look like freaky gerbils :P

2004-01-14 [Sheepy]: why would you do this to us... why? ;_;

2004-01-14 [Paul Doyle]: Another elftowner got me hooked on it . . . for a few minutes, anyway. Take comfort in the fact that it's not a duet between Lionel Ritchie and Tito Jackson

2004-01-15 [Sheepy]: I think I'll take comfort in the fact that my sound was off at the time instead *g*

2004-01-15 [liiga]: *experienced it with the sound on - will probably never recover from the shock* @.@

2004-01-15 [Sheepy]: *pats liiga on the shoulder* there there, it will be alright.

2004-01-15 [Paul Doyle]: OK, so it is just a wee bit scary . . .

2004-01-17 [shadowmagi]: if psycrowe were here she would SO win this.

2004-01-18 [Paul Doyle]: Go get her! Really, we need more entries.

2004-01-20 [Fox of Fire]: are these kind of like horse-dragons?

2004-01-20 [liiga]: Um no, those are kind of Dimarene dragons. :P

2004-01-21 [Fox of Fire]: ................................................................

2004-01-21 [Paul Doyle]: [Fox of Fire]: take away the scales and add fur. In Dimarene dragons there's a seasonable pattern: fur over scales, shed according to the season (the fur, that is). Horse-dragons and others like that are a separate category---however this contest is falling well short of my hopes, so I'm broadening the definition a bit---unless there's objections.

2004-01-27 [Paul Doyle]: Hey there, folks. Though this is annoying me just thinking about it, I'm going to have to extend the deadline past Feb. 1. I'm in the middle of writing two stories for Wyvern's Library, and will be finishing the final draft of my first novel afterward (I'm taking a two-week vacation Feb 1 to Feb 14 to get as much of it done as possible; 220 pages down, about 280 to go) Anyway, I'm not thrilled about constantly changing the deadlines---just like I'm not thrilled about participation falling well short of my expectations. Anyway, any/all feedback is CERTAINLY welcome. Maybe I just don't know how to run a contest wiki . . . anyway, let's try to get some more entries here. :-)

2004-01-28 [Paul Doyle]: New deadline (SIGH): March first.

2004-01-29 [Nere]: *double sigh*  okay.....

2004-01-29 [Paul Doyle]: *snickering* Are you mocking me, [Nere]? :-)

2004-01-29 [Nere]: *grins* maybe...... :P

2004-01-29 [Klocko]: i wish i had a scanner!!!!.....i can actually draw dragons too!!!!

2004-01-29 [Bratt]: im a try and enter.

2004-01-29 [t6]: March the first.....just a furry dragon right?? See if I draw this does anybody have any idea whether it goes in me loth or fanquarter gallery??

2004-01-29 [liiga]: If nobody notices, then it goes in Loth - like mine! ^.^

2004-01-29 [t6]: lol

2004-01-29 [Paul Doyle]: The "close up" of my dragons Jak'edrac and Jul'eweisa is on Loth. Once I finish the image *knocking on wood* I will upload it to the to-be-reconfigured SF/Fantasy art gallery.

2004-01-29 [t6]: ok, i have my entry drawn...need to colour it now..... here is a preview if anyone is interested.... http://groups.msn.com/RealmofthePestilenceDragon/kimberlyspictures.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=816

2004-01-29 [liiga]: Aw cute! ^^

2004-01-29 [Paul Doyle]: Looking good! :-) Poor apple?

2004-01-29 [t6]: Lol, the idea came to me just before dinner...I originally wanted a small dragon in a hand but I cant draw those so i thought...apple!! Lol, the pose is kind of cattish and the mane is directly from my fave breed of horse...so weird drawing a furry dragon...

2004-01-29 [Paul Doyle]: I've yet to work up the nerve to draw fur on the three snoozing and snoring dragons surrounding J and J. But this should be a good exercise. in my forthcoming novel sequence (which has J and J in it) there are nine Doyle Dragon subspecies. All are warm-blooded and have their own classification (apart from mammals, birds, reptiles and the rest). Seven species are scale-covered with varied amounts of hair (mostly the result of sexual dimorphism), one aquatic (air-breathing) species has a smooth but very tough hide (like a dolphin's) . . . and the ninth species is furry, grey fur with a white-furred underbelly. So now I'm getting motivated to finally finish my non-votable drawing.

2004-01-30 [Dragon Hawk]: [t6] i LOVE your dragon! he/she is super cute. ^_^

2004-01-30 [t6]: Mogur is a he and thank you :D

2004-01-31 [Paul Doyle]: [deleted4] wants to know if he can cuddle up to Mogur, and share the furry warmth. Just thought I'd pass that along . .. O_o

2004-01-31 [TamponLollipops]: Mogur, Mogur... That was the name of the neanderthal spirit man in a book I read...

2004-01-31 [Paul Doyle]: Oongawa! was it from a Jean Auel novel, by chance?

2004-01-31 [TamponLollipops]: Yep.

2004-01-31 [Paul Doyle]: I heard they actually made a Broadway musical out of "Clan of the Cave Bear" O.o o.o o.O

2004-01-31 [TamponLollipops]: Now, that's just weird. How could one create a musical out of that?

2004-01-31 [Paul Doyle]: Exactly. i heard it was every bit as awful as the movie version of "Annie", which traumatized me as a young boy. (Forced to see it at the drive-in with my parents, bro and sis around 1982 )

2004-01-31 [TamponLollipops]: *points and laughs* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

2004-01-31 [Paul Doyle]: Fortunately, i also saw "Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan" and "Dragonslayer" at the same drive-in, so there was some recovery, after all. (Though my father would beg to differ :P :P :P)

2004-01-31 [TamponLollipops]: Yea, thank god for 1986, the year i was born.

2004-01-31 [Paul Doyle]: yuck, that's when I was in middle school. Awful time.

2004-01-31 [t6]: Lol, yep, just watch it cos he looks like a michievous dragon.....and wow, yes Mogur is named after a caveman mage type thing, my friend named him and I forget the story but he named his dog after this caveman character called Mogur and then told me I should name my dragon after his dog.....

2004-02-04 [TamponLollipops]: I'm going to have a horse named "Bubbles".

2004-02-04 [Paul Doyle]: Bubbles, meet Trumpy! (A guinea pig)

2004-02-06 [liiga]: Ooh, purdy new dragon. Nice, [Bad_Badtz]!

2004-02-06 [Paul Doyle]: It's definitely a nice new pic. :-D

2004-02-07 [Sirfy]: Well, I'm starting on..ideas on my dragon. Hard to find a pose to work with :/

2004-02-08 [Paul Doyle]: I have modified my entry to state it is not to be voted upon (since I run the contest). I would put it at the top, but my art skills to not warrant that. Just don't vote on it.

2004-02-08 [liiga]: why not? since this contest doesn't have a prize, I don't see any conflict of interests.

2004-02-08 [Paul Doyle]: They finally have new guidelines on art contests. I did not change my mind; I just emphasized what I wrote at the very top of the page. Also, I will be getting a "badge" made in the next few days. I'm learning bit by bit how to run one of these contests *chuckle*

2004-02-08 [liiga]: ohh. I see then.

2004-02-08 [Sirfy]: yay for multi entries! I can do both ideas I wanted to do!

2004-02-08 [Paul Doyle]: It's clearly stated on contest guidelines

2004-02-08 [Sirfy]: if you want paul, I can make the badge for you, you can just provide me with what you want. -shrug- payback for helping my wiki?

2004-02-08 [Paul Doyle]: Sure! OK . . . I was thinking about a side profile of a standard dimarene, head and shoulders, maybe with a circle around it. It will need a note saying where it's from, along with a link to her FAQ page. The Town Guards have been looking more closely at the wikis lately, so that's why I suggest the link.

2004-02-08 [Sirfy]: o.0 I don't have to draw the dragon, do I?

2004-02-08 [Sirfy]: and the circle around what..the dragon or bagde?

2004-02-08 [Sirfy]: Also...can I shorten the name of the contest on the badge? It's too long to fit the name ofthe contest and everything else 0.0

2004-02-08 [liiga]: use invisible ink. XD

2004-02-08 [Sirfy]: haha!

2004-02-08 [Paul Doyle]: I'd suggest just copying a suitable image, add "Dreslough Contest" or something short like that, and then posting the linking URL. keep it simple.

2004-02-08 [Sirfy]: url to her page or FAQ

2004-02-08 [Paul Doyle]: the FQ, because there will be no further question after that. you will have hit "The Source".

2004-02-08 [Sirfy]: ok ^^ I have everything needed then ^^ I'll work on it. I have a perfect picture for it.

2004-02-08 [Paul Doyle]: Thanksies! I appreciate the help.

2004-02-08 [Sirfy]: anytime ^^

2004-02-09 [Sirfy]: -feels all special- lol XD jk

2004-02-09 [liiga]: beautiful! :D

2004-02-09 [Paul Doyle]: now we look a little more "official", lol

2004-02-09 [Paul Doyle]: Extending deadline to April 15, because I sense more people will be attracted by the beautiful badge :) (Mind you, the FINAL FINAL FINAL DEADLINE EXTENSION.) Tax day.

2004-02-09 [Sirfy]: yay! even more time!!

2004-02-09 [Sirfy]: -hugs paul-

2004-02-09 [Paul Doyle]: Aw, huggles! *feeling fluffy* I just made the new deadline. Now I have to bounce over to the contest places and then HOPEFULLY get a good chunk of novel writing done tonight.

2004-02-09 [Sirfy]: Yay! I got done with a dragon in rcord time! 4 and a half hours! My best work yet too ^^ I combine Dees "toothy dragon" and 2 other styles together...sorta...hehe well i'll hvae it up sometime...got to find batteries for the camera if the scanner sucks ^^

2004-02-10 [Mom]: there you go Paul...I drew him for the contest and kept forgetting to post him.

2004-02-10 [Sirfy]: -.-' I...was finished with my dragon...Looked great...but kept adding to it. It was just a very detailed head, but now I am making a detailed body...><* I just kept adding on to the neck..and I drew a body...and a foot..and a wing...I can't help myself! lol XD Thank goodness for your extension! hehe. (btw it is a mix of her dragons..not just 1 type)

2004-02-10 [Paul Doyle]: [Sirfy] take your time . . . you'll notice how my unfinished sketch is dated "12/03", and here we are halfway to March! LOL

2004-02-10 [Paul Doyle]: Thanks for entering, [Mom]! I'm very happy you could make the time to participate. :)

2004-02-10 [Sirfy]: -grumble- I never wanted to add a body XD It just happened! Lol, dragons have an effect on me like that. Dee was a major inspiration to me in this.

2004-02-10 [liiga]: And I always wish I'd never started on the body, but just don't know how to go without it. o.-

2004-02-10 [Paul Doyle]: just curious, [liiga], does the feathered dragon hurt herself if she moves the wrong way, or is the point extending downward from the rib cage a flexible crest-like decoration?

2004-02-10 [liiga]: Just a flexible thingy, mostly for aerodynamic purposes. Like ears! ^^

2004-02-10 [Paul Doyle]: Oh, OK. That makes sense. I thought maybe she would hurt her knee if it twitched against the projection as she slept.

2004-02-10 [liiga]: Next morning paper headline: "Dragon stabbed by own chest fin." o.O That would be interesting.

2004-02-11 [Paul Doyle]: then the poor draggie could be on all the daytime talk shows that matter, discussing the ordeal and the misery of having her own chest fin conspiring against her.

2004-02-11 [Sirfy]: the fin is charged with murder XD

2004-02-11 [Dragon Hawk]: Flamingo6, thats an awesome drawing. O.o *is amazed*

2004-02-12 [Paul Doyle]: I love the overall quality and the imagination . . . so may contests feature bad anime faces on lined paper. What a relief to have a contest with people putting effort and love into their works! Keep it going. :-D

2004-02-12 [Sirfy]: I am almost in-love with my drawing. Best I've done ^^ Can't wait for you to see it paul

2004-02-12 [Paul Doyle]: that's the way I'm getting with my novel . . . I've got to make sure I don't get conceited about it.

2004-02-12 [Paul Doyle]: I'm looking forward to seeing it, [Sirfy]! :-)

2004-02-12 [Sirfy]: Though the body is done completely on my own..I'm hoping I can get the Dee Dreslough style with it. To me it doesn't look like her kind of style...cause of the "toothy dragon" isn't like the others. o.0

2004-02-13 [Paul Doyle]: A picture of Zino, [cerulean33]? why? You do realize that unless it's a stand-in, I'm going to take it down, right?

2004-02-13 [Paul Doyle]: All set now. Looking good, [cerulean33]!

2004-02-17 [Sirfy]: :D yay! I got the head up! The quality isn't at its best, even with PSP help :P

2004-02-17 [Paul Doyle]: awesome, [Sirfy]! keep going. :-D

2004-02-17 [TamponLollipops]: O.O I don't have the patient to draw scales like that.

2004-02-17 [Paul Doyle]: Update on my pic: I'm getting there . . . apart from the novel I'm writing, unwanted Elftown distractions warranting my immediate attention, and catching up on neglected Elfwood comments, here it goes: I have to finish a rather simple yet sweet project for my wife Kathy, which is a late Valentine's gift and an early anniversary (May 31) gift. It's on blue paper, naturally, but I'll be doing the final version very soon. Once that is done, I will finish the Dee pic, then get onto several long-promised art projects. @__@

2004-02-17 [TamponLollipops]: Neglected Elfwood comments, I have a few hundred of those.

2004-02-17 [Sirfy]: Heh, wish me luck on this dragon head! I'm hoping it makes mods choice! Been trying for a LONG time to make it there.

2004-02-17 [Paul Doyle]: I like it a lot, [Sirfy]! I'm tempted to post the blue lovey-dovey pic for critique on my ET house, but, nahhh. (It's PG-rated, btw)

2004-02-17 [Sirfy]: hehe, I wanna see!

2004-02-17 [Paul Doyle]: not on this page, though . . . can't turn into EgoZilla now, can I?

2004-02-17 [Sirfy]: ohh, I didn't mean on here ^^

2004-02-17 [Paul Doyle]: (I'm uploading it in just a second, I drew it today on break at work)

2004-02-17 [liiga]: [Paul Doyle], if you need CC on anything, you know where to post - Constructive Criticism Wiki. :) </shameless plug>

2004-02-17 [Paul Doyle]: Well, I don't want to hog it up either. Evidently I have an overbearing, egotistical personality @__@ So it's fine, just sitting there on my page in its folded, blue-papered glory. :-)

2004-02-17 [Sirfy]: thanks Liiga! I was looking everywhere lastnight for that wiki!

2004-02-17 [liiga]: welcome! ^_^

2004-02-21 [Paul Doyle]: fortune cookies anonymous open to all

2004-02-22 [bluefan44]: *drools* i wish i could draw but i have to keep practiceing...

2004-02-22 [Paul Doyle]: Don't let that stop you . . . I'm extremely amateurish next to a lot of the others, and there I go drawing anyhow. come on in! :-)

2004-02-22 [Paul Doyle]: Cliques? Ugh! "I'm a jock. He's a nerd. She's a snob. He's a stoner. She's a cheerleader. But in the end we're all snobs because we're into cliques." Just kidding . . . having a look! :-)

2004-02-22 [Nere]: :P just wanted another word for group or guild.... :p its not really that selective....

2004-03-03 [Sirfy]: [Cathos] This is Dee Dreslogh's dragon-style art. I don't know if that's her style of art.

2004-03-03 [Cathos]: OK. Wave bye bye to the little kitten!

2004-03-03 [Paul Doyle]: Sorry, but that kitten definitely doesn't fit in here.

2004-03-03 [Cathos]: All gone now. Sorry to have mucked up your contest.

2004-03-03 [Paul Doyle]: that's ok . . . you have until April 15th to enter (and if you've noticed, I have been fairly loose with the definitions here)

2004-03-05 [Sunny Silverunicorn]: All art lovers, I'm here to gather your attention and interest into a new event. The Town Herald has started a new section named The Art Corner. So we invite all art lovers to come and visit this wiki and if interested help to keep it as full and interesting as possible ;) Thanx in advance.

2004-03-05 [liiga]: Um, [Sunny Silverunicorn], is there an art-related wiki that you have not posted that ad in yet? >.>

2004-03-05 [Pnelma Tirian]: don't think so.

2004-03-05 [Paul Doyle]: [Sunny Silverunicorn], before you spam everybody, please consider returning the favor by posting here, or mentioning this place on your wiki. If you haven't after 48 hours of my writing this, I'll erase the comment, as it has no bearing whatsoever on this contest, or other contests the participants here have entered.

2004-03-05 [liiga]: Better write her a personal message (if you haven't, that is). I don't think she's watching all the wiki-pages that she posted this to.

2004-03-06 [Paul Doyle]: nah, screw it. Message erased. I'm too busy to go through that horse shit. :P

2004-03-06 [t6]: *giggles* there is one she hasn't posted at yet, she hasn't found my frog contest.....its bad advertising really, I am now at the stage where I will refuse point blank to contribute to that page purely because the adverts are so bugging......

2004-03-06 [Paul Doyle]: She hasn't shown up at my fortune cookies anonymous, but she's released the hounds. You'd better run, because you can't hide :P

2004-03-06 [liiga]: Seems like she haunts mostly contests though - the Constructive Criticism Wiki has mysteriously remained ad-free, too. Well, for now, that is.

2004-03-27 [liiga]: Hey, hey! Another plug coming up, with pauly's permission. Check out Amazing Wings Contest and please also consider participating! ^^

2004-04-07 [Paul Doyle]: Just a reminder, folks. This contest ends April 15. I'm not extending it past then. Thanks!

2004-04-15 [Paul Doyle]: Um, scratch that. I'm way behind on several things. If you can get your pics up before I finish mine, cool. Sorry @__@

2004-04-25 [Paul Doyle]: I don't mean to spam this wiki, but if you care about Elftown as a whole, care about the Town Guards (especially [Calico Tiger]), and would like to see justice served to a few fucktards ruining Elftown, please go to [Mordigen]'s stop the revolution and show your support. Thank you.

2004-04-25 [Paul Doyle]: BTW---my picture is 60% done. If you have a picture you'd like to have here, get it in before I finish.

2004-04-25 [t6]: hehehe, finally figured out why people think my art looks like Dee's stuff....ok, I don't like most of it but some of those dragons are so like my dragons it takes a while to figure out they aren't which is real freaky as I've never seen them before and I bet she has never seen mine......

2004-05-02 [Saffron]: is the contest over?

2004-05-02 [t6]: yeah, if it finished after the 28th of May I'm gonna miss the result....

2004-05-03 [Fire fae]: Finaly got the pic into elfwood so now it has a decent size. ^_^

2004-05-03 [liiga]: Ooh it looks much better at this size - the expressions of both the dragons now show! :D

2004-05-05 [Sirfy]: Yay! got it finished! WOrked like a bitch for days! Getting it up now!

2004-05-08 [Sirfy]: alright, got it BETTER! lol

2004-05-30 [Paul Doyle]: Don't look now, but I finished my pic! (Will upload tomorrow night, in all of its incongruous, water-damaged, tattered glory :P) Then I'll finally get the poll going. If anyone has anything they need to post (and if they still care, or remember this contest exists :P) please post now, or forever hold your piece. Yes, stupid pun . . .

2004-05-30 [liiga]: Yay for Paul's pic! ^^ ...*fixes her entry* Angelfire is eeeeeeevil. <.< >.>

2004-05-31 [Paul Doyle]:

Last call . . .

2004-06-29 [liiga]: *fixes a tag* Say, hasn't there been a while since that last call? *nudges pauly*

2004-06-29 [Paul Doyle]: I will activate the poll when I have returned from my mother's memorial service :) (see page)

2004-06-29 [blackphoenix]: hmmm i'm about to go on holiay for 3 weeks-will poll be over by time i get back-july 23rd?

2004-06-29 [Sirfy]: Just to note, I just put in better quality photos of my entry, nothing new has changed to the picture itself other than the picture quality.

2004-06-29 [liiga]: Ooh, better indeed. Impressive. ^^

2004-06-30 [Paul Doyle]: Poll will be activated ASAP---I will let it run till August First (after all, this is the contest that never ends, is it not ? :P)

2004-07-01 [Sheepy]: (there are no good one syllable words for contest :P) "This is the game that never ends.. yes it goes on and on, my friends! Some people staaarted drawing it not knowing how long it lasts, and they'll continue voting it forever just because.."

2004-07-01 [Paul Doyle]: It's like something straight out of "Karn Evil 9" by emerson, Lake an Palmer *will activate poll tonight*

2004-07-02 [liiga]: For some reason makes me think of Neverending Story. ^^

2004-07-02 [Paul Doyle]: rather busy last night . . . will get it up TONIGHT *bangs fist* (well, 12 hours after posting this :P)

2004-07-30 [liiga]: <.< >.> which tonight? *hides*

2004-07-31 [Paul Doyle]: The masses have spoken . . . *tumbleweeds blow by*

2004-07-31 [Paul Doyle]: poll is up . . . did anyone notice? :P (will downsize font if people actually care to vote)

2004-07-31 [Paul Doyle]: Normal size restored :-P

2004-08-18 [Paul Doyle]: Comments restored.

2004-08-19 [Paul Doyle]: Guys, please consider joining Elfwood Elftowners . . . this is a wiki meant for EVERYONE who is on both Elfwood and Elftown ^__^ And spread the word, too!

2004-11-05 [Saffron]: ok will the contest holder please announce the winner now?

2004-11-11 [Crimson]: boo...wish I would have found out about this sooner...I've had a furry dragon for a long time grar...

2004-12-20 [organicparadox]: great entries so far!

2005-12-27 [Paul Doyle]: I apologize about abandoning and basically forgetting about this contest. So much has happened since this contest started. I believe (in hindsight) I had unrealistically high expectations about this contest . . . anyway, I have finally been prodded to end this thing (if anybody really still cares).
